About Me

My photo
Island girl & Vegas junkie. Sharing my obsession of Sin City. Off the strip, on the strip, dining, hotels, & fashion. No fancy schmancy camera (at least not yet) but I hope you enjoy my view of this wonderful playland in the dessert and some fillers here & there of my hermit lifestyle.

Gold Club lounge at The Venetian

So broke we had to grab dinner here at the Gold Club Lounge.

Dior Gambler

I've had this tucked away for at least 5 years. I finally got around to using it.

Sushi On Rainbow

It was Apple Bee's or our favorite sushi dive. I was craving goyza so I ordered a plate and I was also craving edamame and avocado roll. It's a good thing I just stuck to ordering a plate of goyza & avocado roll. Even that was alot, 5 pieces and a nice serving of salad. These appetizer were a meal in itself. When my tonkatsu order arrived, there was goyza and edamame that I was craving. I didn't need to do any side orders. It was all in my plate. It also came with miso soup, the only thing missing was the tempura, which I took from the hubby. Sushi On Rainbow serves great Japanese food at very affordable prices. I ended up taking home my leftovers, which I had a lot of. We come here ever time we are in Vegas yet for some reason I keep forgetting the portions are good

Trader Joe's

What's a visit to Vegas without a stop at Trader Joe's? For us local Hawaii shoppers, it's a must. This time I stocked up on Dr. Oz recommendations that my sister had requested. Rice bran oil, choffy, chickweed & bilberry tea were some of the items on her list (although they had non of these items).High fiber pasta was the only item they had. I did get the usual snacks of Trader Joe's olive oil popcorn, Powerberries, and Honey pretzel sticks.  Other misc. wine bottle bags for $.59. I just tried the pita chips, but it taste just like the Stacey's brand.

Another great way to end this trip....

Imagine hitting one progressive royal flush on the video poker machine. Well imagine getting two in one day!! The husband was on a wild streak today. He hit his first progressive royal flush in the early afternoon, then we walked over to the Venetian to go visit our friends before we left to go back home, played awhile there. I could not catch a break on this day, rather on this trip. I did ok the first couple of days, but once we got here it was such a challenge. Everything the hubby won, I lost. Anyway, back to the royal flush. He hit the second one at TI a few hours before we were set to leave. Getting one royal flush is hard enough, but to get two progressive, that's just awesome. Looks like we didn't do too bad after all. The loss was not as bad as it could have been.

The newly renovated Noodle Asia at The Venetian

They took a portion of the sportsbook seating area and expanded. There is more room and a perfect view of the screens for all those sports fans.

New on the menu  Seared Petit Lamb Chops with Asia cucumber appetizer.

Old favorite. Red Won Tons

Pork filled Won Tons tossed in Szechwan Hung Yao chili, garlic sauce.

BBQ and Roast Duck soup

BBQ Pork & Roast Duck Fried Rice

The newly renovated Race and Sports Book at The Venetian

It's gorgeous, but its always so empty. My reason, no ordinary Joe can afford to lay down $500.00 for a free drink ticket. That's right, for $500.00 you can get a free drink ticket. That's the minimum bet. I would rather pay the 7 bucks or 12 for a cocktail. The machines are all 3X to !0X video poker. Sure you can bet the minimum quarter, but to get your free drink for playing you need to bet at least $20.00 coin in. We spoke to our good ole' pal & felt so sorry for him. Every time we go & visit, it is so empty. Hoping they change the whole pay scale soon.

Winter Wonderland in Venice at The Venetian

Lovely Sunset view from our room

Ichiza Sake House Japanese Restaurant

We were out & about in the early evening so I got the hubby to go to Ichiza. My husband stumbled upon this authentic Japanese eatery from a waitress who worked at Hamada's. He asked her where she goes when she want to eat good Japanese food. Don't get me wrong Hamada's is a great place also for Japanese cuisine. Here at Ichiza the prices are very reasonable. It's always crowded and opens from 3pm. If you don't mind eating with other people on a shared table, maybe your wait won't be as long. Don't forget to check out all the different menu items hanging around the establishment, you might find something much more appetizing there than on the traditional menu.

Yakitori and Agesashi Tofu

Garlic Baby Bok Choy - Baby Bok Choy in garlic soup

Agedashi Tofu - Deep fried tofu in Ichiza special sauce

Fudruckers at The Orleans

Fudds exotic burger. I had the Elk burger which was very juicy and tasty. Having an iphone sometimes has its downs, like this photo that cleary is so yellow/green from the bad lighting in the food court

Ping Pang Pong

Get here early if you don;t want to wait too long. We got here around 11:30 and the wait was about 1/2 not too bad.
